Sustainable Engineering: From Vision to Reality

Our guest speaker this year is Nancy Schepers, who will showcase the 
Ottawa Light Rail Transit Project as a means of demonstrating the engineering community’s 
essential role in improving quality of life and quality of place. Her presentation will cover 
the evolution of the project from conception to present day, highlighting innovative elements 
and explaining the positive impact they will play in the lives of residents of the nation’s capital.

Nancy Schepers is the Deputy City Manager of Infrastructure Services and Community Sustainability for the City of Ottawa. Nancy develops and oversees the implementation of management and growth accommodation strategies for the City’s municipal infrastructure assets, including roads, bridges, water and wastewater systems, and transit systems. Nancy’s duties include the development of rehabilitation procedures, long range financial strategies and annual capital renewal programs. Nancy is responsible for applying principles of sustainability to the City’s short‐ and long‐term planning to position the municipality as an environmental, economic and cultural leader today and for future generations. She holds B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Windsor.

Registration and Payment.  Please register for the event so that we know numbers for catering. There will be a charge of $25 for each meal ($15 for young members) which will be payable on the night.  Tickets can be bought at the BYC - Cheques  (payable to IET Ottawa) preferred, although you will be able to pay at the bar by cash or Credit Card.   Either way you will need a ticket to eat.
